How should listings be compared?
A modern aftertreatment system may combine the manifold, turbocharger, EGR, DOC catalyst, DPF, AdBlue dosing and SCR module. The controller expects defined substrate volume, flow and temperature, NOx and differential-pressure signals. Substituting a unit because the flanges align can create faults and unsuccessful regeneration.
How can compatibility be confirmed?
Verify assembly and module numbers, Stage or Euro level, flow direction, flange dimensions, sensor ports and pipe positions. Establish whether the offer is for an empty housing, a complete substrate or a set with sensors, dosing module and controller. For EGR parts, identify the cooler and whether the valve is pneumatic or electronic.
What should be compared before buying?
For a cleaned filter, request before-and-after flow or back-pressure values, removed ash mass and a substrate leak test. Washing without crack inspection is not equivalent to remanufacturing. A clean-looking catalyst or SCR unit cannot have its active coating evaluated visually.
How should a used or remanufactured part be assessed?
Inspect a used unit for a melted or cracked substrate, soot outside joints, corrosion, cut wiring and damaged probe threads. Ask for fault codes and the removal reason. A filter from an oil-burning engine or a defective injection system may clog again quickly unless the underlying fault is corrected.
What information should the seller provide?
Request donor VIN or serial number, engine model, emissions standard, all part numbers, hours or mileage and a list of included sensors. A cleaned or remanufactured unit should have a report, process description, warranty and installation conditions, including correction of the original cause of blockage.
