Choose a truck with loader crane for both transport and lifting. A crane capacity quoted without radius and stabiliser position does not show whether the combination can perform the job.

How should Trucks with loader cranes listings be compared?
This category covers trucks with a knuckle-boom loader crane mounted on the chassis. They differ from mobile cranes because their primary role is handling the truck’s own load and their capacity follows a different load chart.
What actually changes the choice?
Define load mass, required horizontal reach and height, unloading side and available stabiliser space. Compare the load chart at the real radius, boom extensions, crane position, controls, attachments and restricted sectors near the cab or body.
The crane, subframe and stabilisers reduce truck payload and alter axle loads. Body length, wheelbase and load position must support both legal travel and stable lifting. Pump flow, PTO, oil cooling and documented chassis integration also affect reliable work.
How should a used vehicle be checked?
A competent operator should test the crane within its load chart. Check stabilisers, locks, boom sections, pins, welds, hoses, cylinders, rotator and controls for play, leaks or drift. Inspect subframe and truck frame carefully for cracks and deformation around mountings.
What information should the seller provide?
Request photographs of the plate and load chart, crane serial number, year, outreach, extension count, stabilisers, attachment and controls. Obtain completed vehicle weight and axle loads, installation and inspection records, PTO and hydraulic service history, and details of structural repairs.
