How to find the right agricultural machine
Start with the job and the time window in which it must be completed. The same acreage may call for different equipment depending on the crop, field conditions, number of passes and the tractor that will power or carry the implement. This category helps you choose the right group of listings; detailed criteria for each machine type belong on its child page.
Choose a category by stage of work
- For field preparation, compare tillage equipment and sowing and planting equipment.
- For fertilising, crop protection and water supply, go to fertilising equipment, sprayers or irrigation systems.
- For harvesting, select combines and harvesting machines, haymaking equipment or mowers and shredders according to the crop and required result.
- For power, loading and farm handling, use the separate categories for farm tractors, tractor front loaders and attachments, transport and storage equipment and livestock equipment.
Compare the configuration, not only the model name
For tractor-powered or tractor-mounted equipment, check the requirements of the exact version: hitch category, power and lift demand, PTO speed, hydraulic flow and pressure, coupling type, and electrical or control connection. Not every item applies to every machine, but missing the relevant one can prevent the combination from working.
A fair comparison also requires the actual working width or capacity, machine mass and transport dimensions, and the equipment included in the sale. For a used machine, ask for the model, serial number, year and service history. Inspect components specific to its design, such as coulters, discs, knives, chains, bearings, pumps or metering units, and where practical see it operate in conditions close to its intended use.
Is tractor horsepower enough to establish compatibility?
No. Power is only one condition. Lift capacity and hitch geometry, machine weight, PTO, hydraulics, the electrical system or terminal, and the manufacturer's requirements for the exact configuration also matter.
How can used machinery prices be compared fairly?
First make the scope comparable: exact model and version, working width or capacity, control equipment, shafts and hoses, attachments, and documentation. A complete machine that is ready to work cannot be compared directly with an offer that still needs equipment or repairs.
