How should listings be compared?
Brake discs and drums, calipers, cylinders, spring brake chambers, valves, ABS/EBS modulators, pumps and wet-brake packs require different checks. Selection is not based on diameter alone. Mounting side and axle, sensor type, working pressure, friction surface and overall system configuration determine compatibility and safe operation.
How can compatibility be confirmed?
Verify the OE number, system manufacturer and axle or drive-axle model. For a disc or drum compare diameter, thickness, height, centre bore and bolt pattern. A pneumatic chamber needs type, stroke, thread and spring-brake design. For wet brakes establish plate count, friction material and approved lubricant.
What should be compared before buying?
A remanufactured caliper, valve or modulator should have a traceable number and pressure-test record. Ask whether pistons, guides, seals and electronics were replaced and what the warranty covers. Freshly painted friction parts or corroded reservoirs should never be accepted without dimensional and structural evidence.
How should a used or remanufactured part be assessed?
Inspect a used part for cracks, friction-surface corrosion, seized guides, damaged threads and connectors, and leakage. A disc needs thickness and run-out measurements, a drum its working diameter, and a valve a leakage test. A safety part with unknown provenance and no testability presents disproportionate risk.
What information should the seller provide?
Request part number, system manufacturer, donor machine, axle and mounting side, dimensions and test values. Confirm included sensor, bracket, lever and hoses and the warranty conditions. After installation, the complete braking system must be tested according to the machine or vehicle documentation.
