How do you choose the right access platform?

Start with the position of the work area relative to where the machine can stand. Working height matters, but it does not replace outreach, capacity or ground assessment.

Choose the right design

Scissor lifts raise a relatively large platform mainly vertically.
Articulating boom lifts reach over obstacles, while telescopic boom lifts provide a more direct, longer reach.
Vehicle-mounted access platforms combine a work platform with a truck or van.
Vertical mast lifts are compact; mast climbing work platforms provide a long deck along a façade.
Suspended access platforms run on ropes and require a complete suspension system.

Information to collect before comparing

Work envelope: platform and working height, required horizontal outreach, obstacles and the area in which the rated load must remain available.
Work site: indoor or outdoor use, ground bearing capacity and level, access width, power availability, emissions and noise restrictions.
Machine: stowed dimensions, weight, platform size, people and tools, drive system, tyres or tracks and transport method.
Records: exact model and serial number, manuals, service history, structural repairs and required inspections.
