How should listings be compared?

Engines, transmissions, axles, hydraulics, cooling systems, brakes and air conditioning use different fluids. The OEM specification and approval for the actual component matter most. Viscosity alone, such as 15W-40 or ISO VG 46, does not describe additive chemistry, seal compatibility, friction behaviour or suitability for emissions equipment.

How can compatibility be confirmed?

Record product type, viscosity grade, quality standard and fill quantity from machine documentation. Gear oil may have to support wet brakes and clutches; hydraulic oil needs the right temperature range and shear stability; coolant requires the specified inhibitor technology and concentration. Compressor oil must match refrigerant and compressor design.

What should be compared before buying?

Compare packages of the same capacity and status: factory sealed, opened or transferred. Check batch number, date, seal, label and technical data sheet. Fluid from an unidentified drum provides no assurance of composition, water content or cleanliness even if a recognised brand name is claimed.

How should a used or remanufactured part be assessed?

Do not mix coolants or hydraulic fluids on colour alone. If the existing fill is unknown, establish a change or flushing procedure. For bulk stock, check storage temperature, moisture protection and drum condition. Sediment, separation, a broken seal or illegible batch code needs resolution before purchase.

What information should the seller provide?

Request full product name, viscosity, standards and formal approvals, batch and production date, pack size, technical data sheet and safety data sheet. The seller should state whether the package was opened, how it was stored and whether a drum or pallet deposit is included.
