How should Forklift counterweights listings be compared?
A counterweight is part of the stability system, not universal ballast for increasing capacity. Adding mass independently can change axle loads, braking, rear swing and approval; the correct scope comes from the documentation for the exact variant.
What actually changes the choice?
Identity: model, serial, chassis variant and casting number; mass: actual value and documentary match; geometry: envelope, rear swing, bonnet access, hitch and guards; mounting: support points, bolts, pins and spacers; configuration: engine or battery, tyres, mast, attachment and capacity plate
Attachment weight, effective thickness and load offset can reduce combined capacity. Merely fitting the carriage does not prove that the configuration is approved.
How should a used item be checked?
Weigh the item or confirm mass from a reliable marking. Inspect mounting holes, welds, casting cracks, corrosion and collision evidence. A trial fit without the complete mounting kit does not prove compatibility. After approved installation, verify envelope, service access and plate consistency; a load test cannot legitimise a random counterweight.
What information should the seller provide?
Send truck model and serial, a photograph of the rear, mast, battery or engine and attachment configuration. Request casting number, mass, dimensions, compatible models and variants, complete bolts and pins, repair history, origin document and written confirmation that the counterweight is approved for this build.
