A compactor is a machine that is used to compact soil or building materials. Its main task is to seal surfaces and increase the strength of building structures by reducing the amount of air and gaps in the material. Compactors are widely used in construction, for building roads, bridges, airports, residential areas, as well as in mining.

  • Compactors are divided into manual and mechanical. Manual compactors are usually used for smaller jobs, such as compacting foundations, driveways, or sidewalks. Mechanical compactors, on the other hand, are usually used for larger jobs, such as compacting road subgrades, bridges, and airports.
  • Compactors can have different sizes and weights, depending on their application. Important parameters to consider when choosing a compactor are its weight, power, size, and vibration frequency. Depending on the application, vibrating compactors or centrifugal compactors can be chosen.
  • Vibrating compactors usually have a smaller mass and are more portable than centrifugal compactors. Centrifugal compactors, on the other hand, usually have a larger mass and are more effective in compacting larger surfaces.
  • It is also important for the compactor to be properly matched to the type and thickness of the material to be compacted. Therefore, before choosing a compactor, its application and the type of material to be compacted should be carefully determined.
