How should listings be compared?
Power-supply, starting, sensing and control components share this category. An alternator must match voltage, current output, mounting, pulley and regulator. A controller may need the correct hardware number, calibration, immobiliser pairing or machine programming. A sensor can differ in range and signal characteristic despite using the same connector.
How can compatibility be confirmed?
Begin with the full OE and manufacturer numbers and confirm any supersession. For an alternator compare 14 or 28 V, current at specified speed, rotation, pulley and connector. For a controller record hardware and software numbers, CAN network, pin count and adaptation procedure. Wiring diagrams should support any proposed harness substitution.
What should be compared before buying?
A remanufactured part should have a test result. Starter and alternator checks include current draw, output, charging voltage, load operation and insulation. A controller report should identify the repaired circuit and tests of communication, inputs and outputs. “Working” without data does not address intermittent faults.
How should a used or remanufactured part be assessed?
Inspect a used module for moisture, corroded pins, burning, case damage and previous opening. Check a harness for abrasion, repairs and missing branches. A sensor should be compared with its correct output curve; absence of a fault code in the donor machine does not test every part of its working range.
What information should the seller provide?
Request label and connector photographs, donor serial number, voltage, software version, removal reason and test record. Establish whether the module is unlocked, requires coding, includes regulator, relays or brackets, and can be returned after a non-destructive diagnostic connection.
