How should Warehouse machinery and equipment listings be compared?
This page separates three buying decisions. A forklift lifts and stores loads, a warehouse truck mainly moves them over short distances, while warehouse equipment provides storage locations, identification, flow and control.
Choose the correct subcategory
What actually changes the choice?
- Process and load unit: pallet, tote, carton, long load or an irregular item; route: put-away height, aisle width, floor, gradients and doors; flow: moves per hour, peaks and shifts; environment: cold store, dust, moisture or outdoor work; integration: racking, identification, WMS and automation
- Do not compare prices across different product classes. Map the listing to the right process and subcategory first, then compare specifications, condition and commissioning cost.
How should a used item be checked?
For used equipment, establish whether the listing covers a complete machine, one module or only part of an installation. A truck needs a legible data plate and a loaded demonstration; racking needs configuration and load documentation; a system needs a module list, control versions, interfaces and licences. Without these, quoted prices are not comparable.
What information should the seller provide?
Give the seller a process sheet with load dimensions and maximum mass, lift height, minimum aisle and door clearances, floor conditions, shifts and required interfaces. Request the exact build, serial numbers, included components, documentation, service history and commissioning terms.
