Choose a hooklift truck for the length, hook height and mass of the containers in use. Nominal lifting capacity alone does not prove that the complete truck can handle them.

How should Hooklift trucks listings be compared?

A hooklift draws a container over rollers with a hook arm and can tip it for discharge. A skip loader lifts a container between arms, so the two systems require different container geometry.

What actually changes the choice?

Record container dimensions, hook-bar height, roller spacing, empty mass and maximum operating mass. Compare equipment length, hook height, capacity through the complete cycle, pickup angle, locks and tipping capability. The container must fit without excessive overhang.

Axle layout, wheelbase, chassis height and equipment position affect axle loads and stability. PTO and pump output, controls, oil cooling, auxiliary rollers and a trailer coupling also matter. Maximum lifting capacity can differ from the permitted mass of a container carried on the road.

How should a used vehicle be checked?

Run a complete cycle with a compatible empty container, checking hook, telescope, pins, rollers, locks, cylinders and hoses. Look for drift, play, subframe cracks and impact marks behind the cab. A loaded test should be supervised by a competent person and stay within the manual.

What information should the seller provide?

Request maker, model, serial number, capacity, dimensional drawing and the list of compatible containers. Confirm completed truck weight, axle loads, chassis length, hook height, controls, PTO, installation documents, inspections and hydraulic repair history.
