How should Bushings listings be compared?

Plain, bearing, flanged and composite bushes can look alike but need different clearances and housing preparation. Some are finish-machined only after pressing into the bore.

What actually changes the choice?

  • Geometry: inside/outside diameter, length, flange, chamfers and grooves; fit: housing tolerance, interference, pin clearance and post-install machining; material: bronze, steel, sinter or composite and bearing layer; lubrication: grooves, pockets, holes or maintenance-free duty; load: pressure, oscillating/rotary movement, speed and temperature
  • Part number and machine data take priority over visual similarity. Versions may differ in dimensions, connection, direction, material or calibration despite sharing a trade name.

How should a used item be checked?

Measure the bore in two directions and several positions for ovality, taper and layer wear. Inspect scoring, cracks, bush rotation in the housing and blocked greaseways. Measure the housing after removal; a new bush cannot repair a cracked or enlarged bore. Confirm whether line boring or reaming is required after pressing.

What information should the seller provide?

State machine position, catalogue number, pin and housing dimensions, movement and lubrication. Request drawing and pre/post-install tolerances, material and bearing layer, interference and running clearance, groove orientation and machining instructions after pressing.
