How should Forklift batteries listings be compared?
A traction battery is part of truck mass and configuration, not merely an energy source. Equal nominal capacity does not mean equal chemistry, performance, ballast, BMS communication or charging method.
What actually changes the choice?
System: voltage, chemistry, Ah/kWh, permitted current and shift profile; mechanical: tray, dimensions, mass, lifting points and removal; connection: type, polarity, keying, cables and communication; charging: charger, curve, supply, time and ventilation; condition: year, cycles, remaining capacity, resistance/cells and service history
Part number and machine data take priority over visual similarity. Versions may differ in dimensions, connection, direction, material or calibration despite sharing a trade name.
How should a used item be checked?
For a traction battery compare cell voltages and temperatures, links, insulation, tray and covers and, on serviceable lead batteries, electrolyte levels. Demand a controlled capacity test, not open-circuit voltage alone. For lithium inspect BMS data and faults, cycles, balance and charger compatibility. Corrosion, swelling or tray damage requires competent assessment.
What information should the seller provide?
Provide truck model and plate, voltage, required runtime, compartment dimensions, minimum mass, connector and charger data. Request battery plate, year, chemistry, Ah/kWh, mass, service history, capacity or BMS report, cell, cable and tray condition, and whether a compatible charger is included.
