Compare the whole combination, not just drill width
Assess a tillage and seeding combination as a cultivation implement working with a seeding section. A listing may include only part of the assembly pictured. Establish whether the price covers the drill, hopper, pipes, drive, roller and necessary coupling and control components.
Cultivation: identify discs, tines or powered tools. Confirm suitability for the preceding operation and residue load. Not every combination is intended for direct drilling. Metering and coulters: ask about supported seed types, metering equipment, row spacing and coulter design. Cultivation depth is not the same as seed placement depth.
Drive and controls: check PTO, fan hydraulics, electrical supply and terminal compatibility where these are used. An ISOBUS label alone does not confirm access to every function. Combination weight: distinguish empty weight from the configuration with a filled hopper. Use manufacturer data to assess lifting and hitch requirements.
What should a used-machine inspection cover?
Request a demonstration of metering and controls, and information about the latest calibration check carried out according to the manual. Inspect coulters, press wheels, seed tubes, metering units and tillage tools. Establish whether the terminal, wiring, sensors and calibration equipment are complete: one missing component can change commissioning costs.
If you already have the cultivation implement and only need seeding equipment, check seed drills. For a combination without a seeding function, compare seedbed combinations.
