What makes up a seedbed combination?
The focus here is preparing soil before seeding. A combination brings together sections that perform successive tasks, but the arrangement varies between machines. Request a side view of the complete implement and a component list rather than assuming equipment from its model name.
Section sequence: identify leveling boards, cultivating tools and rollers. Establish which elements can be adjusted independently. Seedbed finish: compare tine or tool types and roller profiles. Match them to field condition and the intended seedbed rather than choosing the largest number of sections.
Working depth: ask how depth is maintained across the width and how sections follow uneven ground. Check the adjustment mechanisms. Drive and lifting: distinguish a passive implement from a combination with powered tools. Confirm PTO requirements where applicable, complete weight and tractor compatibility.
Assess every section of a used combination
Inspect tines, points, roller rings and bearings, along with folding-frame joints. Ask about missing sections, modifications and parts availability. Two similarly priced machines can have very different costs to put into working condition.
Does a seed-drill mounting mean the machine can seed?
No. A lifting linkage or provision for attaching a drill does not confirm that a drill is included. If you need a complete cultivation and seeding function, see tillage and seeding combinations and assess the seeding section as well.
