How should Drive belts and chains listings be compared?

An accessory belt, timing belt and mast leaf chain have entirely different duties. A lift chain is load-bearing; it must not be replaced by ordinary roller chain or assembled from unrelated lengths.

What actually changes the choice?

  • Function: drive, timing, pump or mast lifting; identity: OE number, profile/pitch, width, length or link count; ends: connector, anchor, pin and mounting; load: power, speed or chain class/rating; system: pulleys/sprockets, rollers, tensioner, alignment and lubrication
  • Part number and machine data take priority over visual similarity. Versions may differ in dimensions, connection, direction, material or calibration despite sharing a trade name.

How should a used item be checked?

Inspect a belt for cracking, glazing, missing teeth, oil contamination and uneven wear, and inspect pulleys and tensioner. Measure mast chain over the specified number of links and check elongation, cracked plates, turned pins, corrosion, anchors and matched pairs. Do not straighten, weld or shorten a load-bearing item outside manufacturer procedure.

What information should the seller provide?

Provide assembly number, function, old-part number, dimensions or link count and end photographs. Request maker, series and class, certificate/marking, date, elongation limit, connectors and anchors, pairing requirement, and recommended pulleys, tensioner and lubrication.
