Assess a forklift work platform as one specific combination: platform, truck, restraint, controls and approval. Fork pockets alone are insufficient.

How should Forklift work platforms listings be compared?
A personnel platform is not a goods cage or a pallet with guardrails. Whether it can be used depends on design, restraint, controls, procedures and local rules; not every truck–platform combination is permissible.
What actually changes the choice?
Identity: maker, model, serial, rated load and occupants; restraint: pockets, fork or carriage locks and protection against sliding; structure: floor, rails, gate, toe board, roof and anchorage points; communication: platform controls, emergency lowering and contact with the truck operator; combination: compatible truck, height, capacity chart and written approval for the application
Attachment weight, effective thickness and load offset can reduce combined capacity. Merely fitting the carriage does not prove that the configuration is approved.
How should a used item be checked?
Verify documentation and plate before any functional test; do not test an unknown combination with a person. Inspect welds, floor, rails, gate hinges, fork locks and retaining parts. Check whether repairs preserved geometry and whether hollow sections show corrosion. Controls and emergency lowering should be tested to the instructions by a competent person.
What information should the seller provide?
State truck model, work height and task. Request the manual, declaration or approval, plate, year, tare, rated load, pocket dimensions, locking method, gate, controls, emergency lowering and all cables. Require written confirmation for the exact combination.
