How should Sorting systems listings be compared?

A sorter is part of a process, not a standalone throughput promise. Induction, identification, item spacing, diverts, buffers and take-away limit the complete line. Technologies handle cartons, envelopes, bags and unstable products differently.

What actually changes the choice?

Mix: minimum and maximum dimensions, mass, centre of gravity, friction and stiffness; flow: average, peak, occupancy, recirculation and no-reads; destinations: count, chute capacity, sequence and overflow handling; technology: cross-belt, shoe, wheel, pusher or another method and discharge gentleness; control: scanner, tracking, PLC/WCS, WMS data and fault scenarios
Comparison becomes meaningful only after the load unit, flow profile and interfaces are defined. The rated throughput of one module is not the throughput of the complete installation.

How should a used item be checked?

For a used sorter inventory every section, carrier, drive, inverter, sensor, scanner and cabinet. Inspect belt, slat, wheel, guide, chain and divert wear. A test should include the smallest, largest, light, soft and difficult labels with realistic induction, not single ideal parcels. Verify tracking, wrong-destination handling, recirculation and restart after a stop.

What information should the seller provide?

Provide an item and volume matrix for each destination. Request layout, minimum/maximum inputs, throughput with assumptions, carrier and destination counts, test results, drive and controller list, code and licences, operating and fault history, critical spares and the scope of dismantling, installation and acceptance.
