How should Box trailers listings be compared?

Rigid walls and a roof provide weather and security protection. This design does not replace a reefer and usually offers less side access than a curtainsider trailer.

What actually changes the choice?

Check internal length, width and height, door aperture, floor height and point-load rating. Shelving, bulkheads or a tail lift must suit the load units. For dock work, compare floor height and the trailer’s stability when standing uncoupled.

Gross weight, body mass, payload and vertical coupling load must match the towing vehicle. Lashing points, door security, ventilation and overall height also matter. A tail lift or side door improves access but changes weight distribution.

How should a used vehicle be checked?

Enter the closed body in daylight and look for leaks, gaps, moisture and panel repairs. Inspect roof, corners, floor, doors, hinges, locks and seals. Then check frame, drawbar, coupling, axles, brakes, tyres and any tail lift through a full cycle.

What information should the seller provide?

Request exact internal and door dimensions, gross and unladen weights, payload and floor rating. Establish the body maker, restraint equipment, tail-lift specification, repair and leak history, and the required coupling, connections and brake system.
