How should Box trucks listings be compared?
A rigid box body protects cargo from weather and unauthorised access. It does not provide active refrigeration and offers less side access than a curtainsider, so the delivery process should determine the choice.
What actually changes the choice?
Check internal length, width and height, door aperture, floor height and pallet space. A tail lift is important for deliveries without a dock, but its platform and capacity must suit the load. A side door improves access while changing wall space and restraint options.
Calculate payload after including body, tail lift, shelving and equipment. Axle limits may be exceeded even with unused internal volume. Compare floor rating, load rails, lighting, security and overall height for routes, yards and building entrances.
How should a used vehicle be checked?
Look for leaks, cracked panels, repaired corners and a deflected floor. Check rear frame, hinges, locks, seals, load rails and body-to-chassis mounting. The tail lift should run through its full cycle without jerking or drift, and its hours and service history should be compared with vehicle mileage.
What information should the seller provide?
Request unladen weight, payload, axle loads, exact internal and door dimensions, floor rating and tail-lift specification. Obtain body maker and serial number, mounting records, repair history, watertightness evidence and a list of rails, bulkheads and included equipment.
