How should a harvester be matched to stand and work method?
Harvester output comes from the base machine, boom, head and measuring system working together. A compact, agile machine may reduce stand damage in thinning; a larger carrier and head serve heavier timber. Engine power alone does not define cutting diameter or assortment accuracy.
What should actually be compared?
Stand and ground: state cutting type, species and stem range, slope, obstacles and bearing capacity. Compare 6/8 wheels or tracks, width, clearance, tractive force and provisions for wheel tracks.
Boom and head: match boom reach and moment to head mass, cutting and delimbing range, roller opening, feed force and speed. The exact head version matters more than the carrier’s general model name.
Measurement and controls: verify length and diameter calibration, measuring wheel, sensors, computer, mapping and licences. Request an accuracy report or test on representative timber.
Supportability: assess cooling in debris, service access, central lubrication, stump treatment where fitted, pump, hoses and parts support for the exact generation.
How should a used listing be checked?
Compare engine, boom and head hours stored in available controllers. Begin cold, warm the hydraulics and perform a complete cycle: grip, fell, tilt, feed, delimb, measure and cross-cut. Look for play and cracks around boom pedestal, articulation, bogies and head link. Inspect rollers, knives, saw, lubrication, bar, measuring wheel, leaks, temperatures and faults. A demonstration does not replace specialist diagnostics.

Request serial numbers for base machine, engine, boom and head, wheel/track configuration, mass and transport dimensions.
