How to choose a header trailer

Compatibility with the exact header matters more than nominal cutting width alone. Weight, centre of gravity, support locations and protruding parts determine how the header sits on the trailer.

Information to confirm

Header: manufacturer, model, type, cutting width, transport length, operating-equipment weight and centre of gravity. Supports: number, position and adjustment of brackets, header-frame profile and clearance for hoses, knife and reel.

Capacity and geometry: rating, beam length, axle layout, overall width, loaded height and turning angle. Restraint: approved strap or chain points, locks, stops and the header-securing procedure.

Hitch and running gear: drawbar interface, combine or vehicle compatibility, steering axles, tyres, brakes and stands. Road use: lighting, markings, speed, combination width, documents and local requirements.
