Drive and Construction

The JCB 3CX and 4CX backhoe loaders are powered by JCB EcoMAX engines ranging from 55 kW (74 hp) to 81 kW (109 hp), delivering strong performance with low fuel consumption. The Stage IV engines use SCR and AdBlue without requiring a DPF filter. The optimized drivetrain, with Powershift or Autoshift transmission, ensures smooth travel, while the TorqueLock system saves up to 25% on fuel. A large 150-liter fuel tank allows extended operation between refills.

Chassis and Hydraulics

The JCB 3CX and 4CX offer excellent traction with 4WD and optional limited-slip differentials. Their variable flow hydraulic pump delivers 165 l/min at 2200 rpm for fast cycle times and precise operation. Automated features like Auto Idle, Auto Throttle, and Auto Drive improve efficiency and ease of use. The SmoothRide System enhances stability and operator comfort during travel, reducing material spillage.

Working Parameters

Maximum digging depth ranges from 4.0 to 6.14 m, and the front bucket capacity from 1.0 to 1.3 m³. The 4CX model provides three steering modes (2WS, 4WS, crab steer) for excellent site maneuverability. Loader breakout force reaches up to 6590 kgf, while backhoe tearout force is up to 6929 kgf. High ground clearance (up to 370 mm) and a 20° departure angle enable efficient operation on uneven terrain.

Additional Equipment

Available options include a 6-in-1 bucket, Powerslide hydraulic sideshift, excavator lifting kit with HBCV valve, Knuckleboom with 30° articulation, hydraulic quickhitch, and a 9m hose reel for handheld tools. The optional LiveLink system provides remote monitoring of fuel usage, location, and service alerts for improved fleet management.

Safety and Technical Data

The machine features a robot-welded steel chassis and protected hydraulic lines. The single-piece glass cab offers excellent visibility and low interior noise (74-75 dB(A)). The CANBUS management system performs daily automatic checks, and a keypad immobilizer enhances security. Operating weight ranges from 7.7 to 8.9 tons depending on model and equipment.
