Sifters are a popular attachment that can be used with excavators to sift and sort various materials such as soil, stones, debris, and other construction waste. Sifters differ depending on many factors, including the size of the sifted surface, the power source, the type of sieve, and the number of interchangeable sieves.

Several categories of sifters can be distinguished as excavator attachments:

  • Drum sifters - use a rotating drum with holes of a certain size that allow material to be sifted through the sieve. Depending on the model, drum sifters can be powered hydraulically, mechanically, or electrically.
  • Frame sifters - consist of a frame mounted on the excavator arm, on which a sieve is placed. They are popular due to their simplicity and ease of installation.
  • Articulated sifters - are sifters that have a joint that allows them to rotate around an axis, making it easier to work in hard-to-reach places.
  • Electrically powered sifters - in the case of electric sifters, the sifting power comes from electrical current, which means that they do not require hydraulic power from the excavator. They are popular due to their low noise emission and ease of use.

When choosing a sifter for an excavator, it is important to take into account several factors, such as the size of the sieve, efficiency, the type and shape of the holes in the sieves, the power source, the power and size requirements of the excavator, and the quality of the materials from which the sifter is made. Ultimately, the choice depends on individual needs and preferences, depending on the application in which it will be used.
