R 995 - Product Description

Powertrain and Design

The R 995 is a hydraulic excavator with an operating weight of 445.5 t with backhoe attachment and 454.5 t with shovel attachment. It is powered by an MTU engine delivering 2140 HP (1600 kW) at 1800 RPM. The engine features a turbocharged 16-cylinder V design and is cooled using two separate water circuits. A common-rail fuel injection system is employed for efficient performance.

Undercarriage and Hydraulics

This machine features a three-piece undercarriage and a hydraulic system comprising six variable flow axial piston pumps, each capable of delivering 840 l/min. The maximum hydraulic pressure is 320 bar. The swing drive is supported by four axial piston motors, allowing a travel speed of up to 2.7 km/h.

Operating Parameters

The R 995 achieves a maximum reach at ground level of 17.80 m and a maximum digging depth of 8.60 m. The digging force is rated at 1150 kN (117.3 t) while the breakout force is 1400 kN (142.7 t). The bucket capacity ranges from 24.00 to 26.50 m³.

Optional Equipment

Alternative power units, including electric motors, are available upon request. There are also options for quick couplers and additional buckets designed for various applications. The machine includes a central lubrication system, crucial for long-term operation.

Safety and Technical Data

The operator's cabin is protected by an integrated falling object protection system (FOPS). An automatic engine shutdown occurs in the event of low oil or coolant levels. The electronic system continuously monitors critical operating parameters, displayed on an LCD screen.
