Powertrain and Design

The Mining Excavator R 995 features an MTU engine with an output of 1,600 kW / 2,140 HP at 1,800 rpm. It is equipped with a 16-cylinder turbocharged engine with direct fuel injection and two separate water cooling circuits. The engine displacement is 65 l. The cooling system consists of fans driven by a hydraulic motor.

Undercarriage and Hydraulics

This machine is fitted with multiple hydraulic pumps, including six variable flow axial piston pumps and four pumps for the swing drive. The maximum hydraulic pressure reaches 320 bar. The hydraulic system ensures optimized oil flow management, which is essential for effective operation.

Operating Parameters

The operating weight with the backhoe attachment is 441,000 kg / 972,200 lb, and with the shovel attachment, it is 450,000 kg / 992,100 lb. The bucket capacity is 26.50 m3 / 34.7 yd3. The maximum breakout force is 1,300 kN, and the maximum digging depth is 8.60 m / 28’2”.

Optional Equipment

The machine can be equipped with various bucket types, including general-purpose and heavy-duty buckets. Quick couplers can also be fitted, enhancing the machine's versatility. A central lubrication system is additionally available for maintenance ease.

Safety and Technical Data

Several safety features are integrated into the machine, including pressure and temperature monitoring for the hydraulic oil. The operator's cabin is soundproof and includes Falling Object Protection (FOPS). Systematic data on operating parameters is displayed on an LCD in the cab.
