R 976 Litronic - Product Description

Powertrain and Design

The crawler excavator R 976 Litronic has an operating weight ranging from 85,300 kg to 95,500 kg depending on the attachment. It is powered by a Liebherr D 9508 A7 SCR engine, delivering a rated power of 400 kW (544 HP) at 1,800 RPM. The engine has a displacement of 16.16 l and utilizes a Common-Rail injection system in a four-stroke diesel engine. The large cylinders provide significant torque and operational efficiency.

Undercarriage and Hydraulics

The R 976 features a hydraulic system consisting of two Liebherr variable flow swash plate pumps, ensuring a maximum flow rate of 996 l/min and a pressure of 350 bar. The undercarriage is designed with a robust construction that enhances its self-cleaning capacity. Two versions of undercarriage are available: HD with fixed track gauge and LC-V with variable track gauge, providing increased adaptability in various terrains.

Operating Parameters

The bucket capacity ranges from 2.00 m³ to 6.60 m³, and the front shovel capacity goes from 4.40 m³ to 5.60 m³. The R 976 is equipped with Liebherr’s Z-type tooth system and safety valves on the hoist cylinder, which provide additional operational safety. The maximum dumping height reaches up to 9.05 m while the maximum digging depth is 9.40 m, depending on the equipment used.

Optional Equipment

The R 976 Litronic is offered in various equipment versions, including a maintenance platform in the engine compartment and broad, anti-slip side catwalks as standard. The operator’s cab features a modern 7-inch high-definition colour touchscreen, offering full control over the machine’s functions. Additional options include an automatic lubrication system and various safety features.

Safety and Technical Data

Operator safety is ensured by an advanced monitoring system with a rear camera and bullet-proof panels at the front and roof of the cab. The noise level in the cab is 71 dB(A), while the exterior noise level is 109 dB(A). The machine is constructed using cast steel components, ensuring durability and operational safety. The R 976 Litronic complies with European emission standards IIIB/Tier 4i through the use of an SCR system.
