R 946 - Product Description

Powertrain and Design

The R 946 is a crawler excavator powered by a Liebherr D936 A7 engine with a capacity of 220 kW / 299 HP, complying with Stage IV / Tier 4f emission standards. The machine is designed to deliver high excavation performance and stability in various operating conditions. The engine features a common-rail injection system and two-stage turbocharging, optimizing fuel efficiency and enhancing performance at low revs. Integrated Liebherr technologies ensure optimal operating power and smooth movements.

Undercarriage and Hydraulics

The undercarriage of the R 946 consists of a robust design that provides better force distribution and easy transport thanks to integrated securing hooks. Its positive control hydraulic system, equipped with dual pumps, ensures maximum excavation power and swing speed. The electronic pump management system synchronizes flow and pressure, enabling smooth operations and rapid work cycles. A hydraulic pressure of up to 400 bar allows for strong digging and breakout forces.

Operating Parameters

The operating weight of the R 946 ranges from 38,750 kg to 47,800 kg, depending on configuration, with a bucket capacity from 1.00 m³ to 3.00 m³. Maximum working pressure provides strong continuous forces throughout the working phase. The maintenance intervals are optimized to allow oil changes in the hydraulic system every up to 8,000 hours and engine oil every 2,000 hours, minimizing service frequency.

The R 946 offers a wide range of equipment variants, including Liebherr tools optimized for maximum productivity and durability. Standard equipment includes a ROPS safety cab equipped with automatic climate control and integrated monitoring systems.
