HEM 581/561 DL – Product Description

Powertrain and Design

The HEM 581/561 DL is an expertly-constructed machine with longitudinal intake, intended for chipping whole trees up to 560 mm in diameter, as well as for forest residue and cut shrubbery. The robust steel-link conveyor and the longitudinal intake with a loading length of 3.5 m facilitate the loading of bulky wood waste and logs. The upper intake rollers of both models are driven by low-maintenance internal gearboxes.

Working System and Hydraulics

Particularly, the machine's design minimizes time-consuming cleaning tasks due to the closed-off machine stand. The reliable collecting system for “spill-over” material ensures efficient operation on busy roads and across large areas. Additionally, the reduced speed in VARIO mode provides an optimal balance between chip output and cost-efficient fuel consumption.

Operating Parameters

The HEM 581 DL processes hardwood up to 45 cm in diameter and softwood up to 56 cm, achieving a throughput rate of up to 170 lcm/h, while the HEM 561 DL processes hardwood up to 42 cm with a throughput of up to 150 lcm/h. The intake opening dimensions are 680 x approximately 1200 mm for the HEM 581 DL and 650 x approximately 1000 mm for the HEM 561 DL. The rotor diameter is 820 mm.

Optional Equipment

Both machines can be equipped with optional accessories such as a blower for material outfeed, with the possibility of adding a conveyor belt. Various design options are also available, such as rigid drawbar trailers or semi-trailers with tandem axles, allowing speeds of up to 80 km/h.

Safety and Technical Data

The HEM 581/561 DL ensures safety and reliability with its solid construction and key technical parameters. The HEM 581 DL weighs 17,500 kg and is powered by a Mercedes Benz engine with an output of 375 kW (510 hp), while the HEM 561 DL weighs 16,000 kg with an engine output of 240 kW (326 hp). The basic dimensions are approximately 8.55 m in length, 2.55 m in width, and 3.95 m in height.
